Looking for a little adventure? Climbing is a great way to get your adrenaline pumping and gain some new perspective as you enjoy the outdoors. You can literally reach new heights!
Skilled climbers are welcome to climb in parks that allow it. Call ahead and ask for specific regulations, including obtaining a free climbing permit. If you’ve never climbed, ask at the park office or local outfitters about guided trips and climbing clinics for adults and kids.
Remember to always use proper equipment and gear for the conditions.

Stay flexible
Warm up and stretch. Stretching improves circulation and flexibility which translates to improved climbing and fewer injuries.
Be prepared
Preview and read the route. Before you climb, visualize the sequences of the route—or as much as you can see from the ground.
Relax
Over-gripping will wear out your forearms and when that happens, you are done! Grip firmly, but not too tight, and use your legs to support you.
Stay balanced
Keep your body close to the wall. This helps your balance and stability.
Find rest spots
Looking for and taking rests will help you be more successful.
